The blaze, described as an well devloped blaze and has caused the roof of the property to collapse, with neighbouring houses also affected.

 

Fire crews from across London have been deployed to the scene to combat the flames and prevent further damage.

Emergency Response

The London Fire Brigade has mobilised multiple units to tackle the fire, while London Ambulance Service (LAS) has dispatched its Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to assist at the scene.

A Spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said:

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are tackling a fire at a terraced house on Ley Street in Ilford.

The roof and first floor of the two storey property are alight.

Station Commander Darren McTernan is at the scene and he said: “Firefighters are working hard to bring this fire under control.

Ley Street is closed between Eastern Avenue and Vicarage Road, impacting traffic in the surrounding area, so please avoid the area if you can.

“One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders is being used at the scene to help fight the fire from above.”

Control Officers took the first of 25 calls regarding the fire at 1609 and mobilised crews from Ilford, Dagenham, Barking and surrounding fire stations to the scene.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A Spokesman for the Met Police said: Police were called at 4.08pm on 10 December to reports of a fire at a residential property in Ley Street, Ilford.

We have attended alongside the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.

We remain at the scene and cordons are in place.
