A 42-year-old man has been convicted of attempted murder after a brutal assault in Stratford that left the victim with life-changing injuries.
Isakov Akhmad, of Thorogood Gardens, E15, was found guilty on Wednesday, 4 December at Snaresbrook Crown Court of attacking his housemate, Firuz Raupov, with a dumbbell during an argument.
The assault occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 9 June, at the house the two men shared in Stratford. The victim, who is in his 40s, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to an east London hospital, where his injuries were deemed life-changing.
Quick Arrest by Police
Local police officers acted swiftly, locating and arresting Akhmad near the scene just three hours after the attack. Their prompt response was followed by a thorough investigation, which involved gathering forensic evidence, speaking to witnesses, and establishing a solid case against Akhmad.
He was charged with attempted murder on Saturday, 15 June.

Detective Constable Sorcha Homer, from the north east local investigations unit, praised the outcome of the trial:
“This was a very traumatic incident, and it is highly satisfying to have achieved some sort of justice for the victim and his family, with a dangerous man now facing a prison sentence.”
Sentencing Awaited
Akhmad has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 31 March 2025.
