Police were called to Greyhound Way at around 5am on Sunday (February 16) after reports of a man with serious injuries.

Officers arrived within minutes and discovered the victim had suffered life-threatening wounds inside a nearby address on Stadium Road. He was rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Inside the property, police also found a woman with injuries. Her condition is not life-threatening, and she is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Arrest Made

A 21-year-old man from Southend has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody for questioning. Police believe all individuals involved knew each other.

Investigation and Police Response

The case is being handled by Essex Police’s Serious Crime Directorate. A cordon remains in place around Greyhound Way and Stadium Road while forensic officers carry out investigations.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Terry Balding urged anyone with information to come forward.

“At this stage, our priority is establishing the circumstances of this incident. That’s why you’ll see officers in the area, maintaining a presence and carrying out enquiries.”

“We have established the incident was confined to a single address, between people known to each other. An arrest was swiftly made, and I am confident there is no ongoing threat to the public.”
