A man in his 40s has been hospitalised following a suspected acid attack at a property in Laud Street, Croydon, on Wednesday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 10:06 PM on February 19, after the London Ambulance Service (LAS) reported the incident to the Metropolitan Police.
The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital, where he remains. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, but he is expected to undergo further medical treatment.
Ongoing Investigation
Police have launched an urgent investigation into the attack. No arrests have been made so far, and officers are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed: “A man in his 40s was attacked with what appeared to be a corrosive substance. He received treatment at the scene and was later taken to hospital where he remains. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made at this stage, and enquiries are ongoing.”

“It’s terrifying to hear about something like this happening so close to home,” said Julie Parker, a resident of Laud Street. “We just hope the man recovers and that the police find whoever did this.”

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
“We urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around 10 PM on Wednesday, or who has any information, to contact us immediately,” the police spokesperson added.
