Danny Pechap, a 21-year-old resident of Birds Nest Avenue, Leicester, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for raping a woman in her 20s following a party on 26 April this year.

The victim and Pechap, who did not know each other but had mutual friends, attended the same party. Afterwards, Pechap went to the address where the victim was staying and assaulted her while she slept.

The following morning, the victim discovered her shorts were on incorrectly and had blood on them. She sought medical attention at A&E, where the assault was reported to the police.

Emma Bailey, the investigating officer from the police force’s Signal team, revealed that evidence from the defendant’s mobile phone included videos of the assault. “He took advantage of her, taking off her clothes, while she was unable to stop him,” Bailey stated.

The investigation also uncovered that a bloodstained bedsheet was missing from the room. Pechap admitted to taking it and disposing of it in a bin away from the accommodation, presumably to conceal evidence.

“This young woman was subjected to a sexual assault, leaving her scared and concerned about what might happen to her in the future,” Bailey added. “No one should be left to feel like this.”

Pechap appeared at Leicester Crown Court today, where he was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of rape of a woman over 16 on 29 August.
