A serving Metropolitan Police officer has pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour following an investigation conducted by Thames Valley Police.

PC Luke Tuppenney, 31, appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, 13 December, where he admitted to the offence, which took place while he was off-duty.

Arrest and Investigation

PC Tuppenney, who serves in the Met’s West Area Command, was arrested in August 2023 as part of an investigation carried out by Thames Valley Police’s domestic abuse unit. Following his arrest, he was suspended from duty.

He was initially charged with both controlling and coercive behaviour and malicious communications. However, after his guilty plea to controlling and coercive behaviour, the malicious communications charge was laid on file.

Sentencing and Misconduct Investigation

PC Tuppenney is scheduled to appear at Isleworth Crown Court for sentencing on Monday, 3 March 2025.

Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall, who leads policing in the West Area Command, condemned Tuppenney’s actions, stating:

“PC Tuppenney’s actions go against our values within the Met Police, which the vast majority of our officers uphold every day.

“Our Directorate of Professional Standards is now progressing a misconduct investigation in relation to PC Tuppenney’s actions.”

Rebuilding Trust

The conviction comes amid ongoing efforts by the Metropolitan Police to rebuild public trust following a series of high-profile misconduct cases within the force.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards will now assess the case to determine further disciplinary action.
