A murder investigation has been launched after a 43-year-old woman was found dead in a flat in Argyll Road, Woolwich, south-east London.

Incident Details

Police were called to the flat at approximately 5:25 PM on Friday, January 17, following concerns for the welfare of the occupant. Upon gaining entry, officers discovered the woman, who was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s next of kin has been informed, but formal identification is still pending.

Cause of Death

A post-mortem examination conducted on Saturday, January 18, determined the cause of death as blunt force trauma and a head injury.

Police Statement

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren of Specialist Crime South said:
“This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers. At this early stage, we believe the suspect was known to the victim, and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a named individual.”
