A pedestrian and a child were taken to hospital following a collision involving a bus on Kidbrooke Park Road this afternoon.

The Metropolitan Police were called to the scene at around 1:23 pm after reports that a man had been struck by a bus. Emergency services, including London Ambulance Service, quickly arrived to attend to the injured.

Road Closure and Emergency Response

To facilitate the response, Kidbrooke Park Road was temporarily closed for approximately an hour while emergency crews assessed the situation and ensured public safety. The road was reopened shortly after 2:30 pm.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the man hit by the bus, along with a child who was a passenger on the vehicle, were both transported to hospital. Fortunately, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police provided the following statement:
“Police were called at 13:23hrs on Sunday, 23 February to an incident where a male pedestrian was hit by a bus on Kidbrooke Park Road, SE3. A road closure was put in place while emergency services attended the scene. Both the pedestrian and a child passenger on the bus were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.”

Ongoing Investigation

While initial reports suggest the incident was accidental, police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision. Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Locals who witnessed the aftermath described a large emergency response and expressed concern over pedestrian safety on the busy stretch of road.

The incident has reignited concerns among residents about pedestrian safety along Kidbrooke Park Road, which has seen several accidents in recent years. Calls have been made for improved crossing points and better traffic-calming measures to protect both pedestrians and motorists.
