Police in Northumberland are appealing for information after a tragic road traffic collision claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The incident occurred today (Saturday) at approximately 1:20 p.m. on the B1340 near Christon Bank. Authorities were alerted to a collision involving a Fiat 500 car and a Yamaha motorbike.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, the rider of the motorbike, a 34-year-old man, was pronounced deceased shortly afterward.

Efforts are underway to support the family of the deceased, with specialist officers from Northumbria Police assisting to the next of kin.

The female driver of the Fiat sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

In the wake of the tragic event, a full investigation has been launched by Northumbria Police. Sergeant Michael Parnaby, of the Motor Patrols department, expressed condolences to the loved ones of the deceased, emphasizing the need for support during such a challenging time.

Sgt Parnaby also urged anyone with information about the collision or who witnessed the events leading up to it to come forward. Particularly, authorities are seeking individuals who may possess dashcam footage that could aid in their investigation.
