Emergency services, including paramedics and police, were called to Erith Road in Bexleyheath on Thursday following a serious collision in which a police officer was reportedly struck by a vehicle.

The incident occurred during a road traffic collision, and the officer is understood to have sustained injuries as a result. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service treated the injured officer at the scene before rushing him to a trauma centre for urgent medical care.

A section of Erith Road remains closed to both pedestrians and traffic as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Drivers are being advised to seek alternative routes to avoid disruption.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called at 12:15pm today (Thursday 13 February) to reports of a road traffic collision on Erith Road, Bexleyheath.
“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a paramedic from our tactical response unit.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

A Spokesman for the Met Police said: A police officer has been taken to hospital following a collision in Bexleyheath this afternoon.

Police were responding to a report concerning the safety of a woman who was with a man on Mayplace Road West at around 11:59hrs on Thursday, 13 February.

Officers attended and pursued a man on foot.

During the foot pursuit, an officer was involved in a collision with a car unrelated to the incident they were dealing with. He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of domestic common assault.

The road currently remains closed in both directions
