A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his 30s was fatally stabbed inside a flat in St Helens last night.
Merseyside Police officers rushed to the scene at an address in St Helens at around 10.25pm on Friday, May 2, following reports of a stabbing. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 39-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Residents reported hearing police sirens and witnessing a heavy emergency services presence around the flat as officers quickly secured the area. A crime scene has been established and forensic teams are carrying out detailed investigations.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said:
“We can confirm that officers have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a man in St Helens. The investigation is in the early stages, and we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.”
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
