A woman has been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder after a man died at an address in Easterton, near Devizes. Helen Shakespeare, 53, of Strawberry Fields, has been charged with the murder of a man believed to be Raymond Groves, 48, from Hartcliffe, Bristol. Formal identification of the victim has not yet taken place.
Shakespeare has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on Saturday(July 6).
Police were called to Shakespeare’s address shortly after 8pm on July 2 following reports of a stabbing. A man in his 30s was also arrested yesterday (July 4) on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. Additionally, a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and has been further arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. Both individuals remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Deb Hatch expressed her condolences, saying, “I’d like to send my condolences to the family and friends of the man involved. Our investigation remains ongoing.”
