The Metropolitan Police have arrested four individuals as their investigation into a violent robbery at a post office in Hounslow earlier this year intensifies.
Last Friday, 30 August, Met officers executed search warrants across multiple locations in London, Surrey, and Hampshire in connection with the robbery that occurred in April at a post office on Brabazon Road, Hounslow. During the robbery, a man reportedly entered the post office and threatened the shopkeeper with a firearm while demanding cash. The suspect allegedly forced a staff member into the safe room, where he is suspected of stealing £136,774.44.
Witnesses claim that after securing the cash, the suspect ordered both employees into a back room, where he removed the CCTV hard drive before making his escape.
As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered evidence suggesting that the robbery was part of a broader criminal conspiracy involving multiple individuals. Following extensive inquiries, specialist officers conducted coordinated raids, resulting in the arrest of four suspects: two men, aged 38 and 65, and two women, aged 39 and 44.
The four individuals have been arrested on suspicion of the following offenses:
- Conspiracy to steal
- Conspiracy to possess criminal property
- Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice
The 65-year-old man has been released on bail pending further investigation. The other three suspects have been charged with the above offenses and have been remanded in custody by Wimbledon Magistrates. They are scheduled to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, 27 September.
A separate man had previously been charged in relation to this case.
Detective Inspector Ari Yoganathan, who is leading the investigation, commented on the progress: “We know our communities stand firm with us against the use of firearms and support us in our efforts to tackle robbery. We are committed to reducing crime that impacts our communities and keeping residents, businesses, and staff safe.”
This intensified investigation is part of the Met Police’s broader initiative, “A New Met for London,” which focuses on reducing crime, particularly robbery and firearm offenses, while actively engaging with local communities to foster collaboration and trust.
