Sheriff Jud Smith addressed the media in a press conference, stating that multiple people were injured but did not provide specific details about the number of victims or their conditions. “Obviously, what you see behind us is an evil thing,” Smith said, standing in front of the school. He indicated that more information would be provided at a later press briefing scheduled for 4 p.m.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a statement following the incident, confirming that all available state resources have been directed to assist and urging Georgians to pray for the safety of students and staff.
