Detectives have released images of 16 individuals they wish to speak with following a fatal attack near the Notting Hill Carnival. Chef Mussie Imnetu, 41, was found unconscious with a severe head injury in Queensway, west London, just before 11:30 p.m. on August 26. Despite efforts by officers and paramedics, Mussie was pronounced dead four days later after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The attack occurred outside Dr Power restaurant, following the conclusion of the Notting Hill Carnival. Mussie, who had been visiting the UK from Dubai—where he lived and worked—was believed to be in the area for the post-carnival celebrations.

In their ongoing investigation, police have now released images of 16 potential witnesses who may have information about the events leading up to Mussie’s death. The images, provided by the Metropolitan Police, show individuals who were near the Dr Power restaurant at the time of the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that a man has been charged in connection with the attack but stressed that more information is needed to fully understand Mussie’s movements that evening.

“It is believed that Mussie left The Arts Club on Dover Street around 1 p.m. on August 26 and later arrived at the Dr Power restaurant at approximately 10:30 p.m.,” DCI Howie said.

“We have images of several people who may have been in the vicinity during the attack. I want to stress that none of the individuals pictured are believed to have done anything wrong. However, they could hold key information that will help us piece together the events that led to Mussie’s death.

DCI Howie urged anyone who recognizes themselves or others in the pictures to come forward, even if they were simply enjoying the post-carnival festivities and do not live in the area.

“Did you hear or see something either before or after the attack that may help with the investigation?” he asked. “We strongly encourage anyone with knowledge to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, message @MetCC on X (formerly Twitter), or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 8020/26AUG and the number associated with the image they are providing information about.

The investigation continues as detectives work to bring clarity and justice to Mussie Imnetu’s tragic death.
