A child has died after being taken to hospital following an incident in Forest Hill, southeast London.

The emergency unfolded at approximately 12:10pm on Sunday, 18 May 2025, on Wynell Road, near Mayow Road—a typically quiet residential street.

Emergency services, including London Ambulance Service (LAS) crews and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene after receiving reports of an injured child.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said:

“We were called at 12.11pm on Sunday 18 May to reports of an incident in Wynell Road, SE23.

We sent resources including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s air ambulance.

We treated a child at the scene and took them to hospital. Sadly, despite our efforts, they died.”

The nature of the incident remains unclear, and enquiries are ongoing. The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment and are expected to release a statement in due course.

The child’s identity has not been released, and no further details about the cause of injuries have been confirmed.

The tragedy has shocked the local community, with tributes beginning to appear online.
