Emergency services were called after a report of a man seen entering the water this morning.
It is reported the man entered the water at 4.22am and officers are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.
DI Richard Coulton of Leeds CID, said:
“We are urgently trying to trace this man – the river is particularly swollen at the moment given the recent weather conditions and we are doing all we can to try and locate him.”
