The family of a teenage boy who suffered serious injuries during a robbery in Harlow earlier this year has expressed gratitude to the detectives who secured prison sentences for three men involved in the crime.

They specifically thanked Detective Constable Jon wales/nottage/”>Nottage, stating he “did the utmost to get justice” for their family, praising his “kindness and professionalism” throughout the investigation.

Sentencing Details

The three men were sentenced at england/chelmsford/”>Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, 9 September, and received a combined total of Overover 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to various offences, including robbery that resulted in life-changing injuries to the teenage victim.

Brothers Lee Farrugia, 30, and Charlie Farrugia, 24, both from Spruce Hill, Harlow, were among those sentenced. Lee received a prison term of 4 years and 10 months (plus an extended licence period of 2 years) for causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) to the victim, while Charlie was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months for his role in the robbery. Lee was also given an additional 19 months for handling a stolen vehicle involved in the incident and dangerous driving, resulting in a disqualification from driving for nearly five years.

A third defendant, Jason Millard, 37, of Oakdale Road, Forest Gate, London, was sentenced to 10 months in prison after admitting to burglary and handling stolen goods.

Details of the Incident

The assault occurred on Sunday, 2 February, when emergency services were alerted to a seriously injured 17-year-old boy found in a car park in Harlow shortly after 9am. He had suffered a fractured skull after being forced off his e-bike, which was subsequently stolen.

The victim reported being followed by a car that was flashing its headlights before being attacked by three individuals. The car used in the robbery was reported stolen and was found to have cloned number plates.

Family’s Response and Police Statement

Following the sentencing, the victim’s family stated: “No sentence would be good enough to express the pain and suffering these evil people have caused our family. They tried to destroy his life.”

Detective Inspector Stewart Eastbrook, who led the investigation, remarked on the brutal nature of the assault, stating, “This cowardly attack has left a teenager with injuries that will require ongoing treatment for years to come.” He thanked the victim and his family for their cooperation and praised his team for their dedication to securing justice.
