Armed police swoop after gun spotted
Three men were arrested today after reports of a man carrying a gun at the Birchin Way KFC in Grimsby. Armed officers rushed to the scene just before 2pm on Friday, 19 December, after a member of the public spotted a suspicious man in a vehicle.
Suspected BB gun seized
Police detained a 33-year-old and two 28-year-olds in connection with the scare. A suspected BB gun was recovered and taken into evidence. All three remain in custody as investigations continue.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detective Inspector Darren Critten said: “I know reports of this nature can, understandably, be concerning for those in the local area and I want to offer my reassurance that we always treat this type of call as a priority.”
“A 33-year-old man and two 28-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. All three remain in custody while enquiries continue.
“I would encourage anyone with any information, particularly CCTV or Dashcam footage from the area at the time, who has not already spoken to us to please call our non-emergency 101 line quoting log 222 of 19 December.”
