An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Tristan Sherry, who lost his life in a shooting at Browne’s Steakhouse on Main Street in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on Christmas Eve. A second man faces charges of assault causing harm to Mr Sherry.
The accused, David Amah, 18, residing in Donabate, Co Dublin, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court to answer to the murder charges. Garda Sergeant Emma Ryan presented evidence of arrest, charge, and caution, stating that Mr Amah was charged at Finglas Garda station just after 18.00 on the previous evening. The court noted that Mr Amah offered no reply when handed a copy of the charge sheet.
Judge Máire Conneely clarified that bail considerations did not apply at this time, emphasising that only the High Court holds the authority to grant bail in murder cases. Mr Amah’s solicitor requested remand in custody, with the appearance scheduled before Cloverhill District Court next week. Legal aid was sought and granted, given the unemployed status of the accused.
Simultaneously, Wayne Deegan, from Phibblestown in Dublin, faced charges of assault causing harm, violent disorder, and producing a knife on December 24. Granted legal aid, Mr Deegan was remanded in custody, slated to appear before Cloverhill District Court on January 12.
The court also revealed that Michael Andrecut, 22, with an address in Dublin 15, was the initial individual charged with Mr Sherry’s murder. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 16.
Tragically, Jason Hennessy Snr, aged 48, who sustained injuries in the same restaurant shooting, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. A murder investigation is now underway concerning Mr Hennessy’s death.
