British Transport Police (BTP) officers were dispatched to East Farleigh Station this evening  (Sunday 8th December 2024) following reports of a person in distress. Upon arrival, officers encountered a female experiencing a mental health episode. She was safely detained and transported to a local police station, where arrangements are being made to provide appropriate mental health support.

The incident caused brief delays on Southeastern train services; however, normal operations have since resumed. We have reached out to BTP for an official statement and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Community Concerns

East Farleigh Station has previously been identified as a location with a notable number of safety incidents. In July 2024, Network Rail reported 51 instances of level crossing misuse at East Farleigh, highlighting ongoing safety challenges in the area.
