A 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in his 40s, following a fatal shooting in Tottenham on Tuesday, October 15. Police were called to Waltheof Gardens, N17, at around 9:00 am after reports of a shooting. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the victim tragically died at the scene.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a north London police station.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing risk to the wider public. However, they are still appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are yet to formally identify the victim of this tragic incident. Our priority is ensuring that his family is informed and supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will also be scheduled in due course.”
DCI Bradley also urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything related to the incident to contact the police. “We are appealing for anyone who was present in the area to get in touch.
