Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision on the Lewes in the early hours of Saturday, 13 September.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called at around 3.30am to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on the westbound carriageway near the Esso Garage. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, and an investigation is now underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Road Closures
The A27 was initially closed in both directions between Falmer and the england/southerham/”>Southerham Roundabout. The eastbound carriageway has since reopened, while work continues to reopen the westbound side.
Call for Witnesses
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward. Information can be reported by emailing [email protected] or calling 101, quoting Operation Benbow.
