Officers tackling retail crime in north Kent have arrested three separate shoplifting suspects in connection with incidents in Gravesend, Northfleet, and Bluewater Shopping Centre, all occurring on the same day.

The first arrest followed a report of over £60 worth of confectionery stolen from a store in Thames Way, Gravesend. Following a review of CCTV footage, officers arrested Rene Suha, 31, of Snelling Avenue, Gravesend. Suha was charged with theft and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court. He was conditionally bailed and will return to court on 25 October.

Later that day, officers responded to a report that Vivian Torak, 31, had stolen crates of beer on two occasions from the Co-op in Dene Holm Road, Northfleet. Torak, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of theft valued at £50. She was conditionally bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 1 October.

At Bluewater Shopping Centre, security staff alerted police to a theft of several pairs of sunglasses, valued at £5,347, from John Lewis. Officers arrested Brian McAllister, 45, in a nearby car park. McAllister, of Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill, London, was charged with two counts of theft, including an additional shop theft in Chelmsford, Essex, on 20 May. He is remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 11 September.
