A man in his 40s has tragically died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Churchinford, West Somerset, in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency Response
Emergency services were called to a rural road near Red Lane shortly before 12:05 am on Sunday, February 9. Despite their efforts, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a white Peugeot 3008, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Details
Avon and Somerset Police stated that the vehicle is believed to have been traveling from the direction of Blagdon Hill towards Churchinford when the collision occurred. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The man’s next of kin has been informed, and the police extended their condolences:
“Our thoughts are with the family at this distressing time.”
Road Closure and Recovery
The road was closed for several hours to allow for recovery work and an investigation by collision investigators. It was reopened at approximately 11:30 am today.
