A man who racially abused and stabbed his ex-partner’s boyfriend during a violent altercation in Ludgershall has been sentenced to almost five years in prison.

Kieran Hutchinson, 31, of Abbatt Close, Ludgershall, appeared at Winchester Crown Court on Friday, 17 January, where he pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a bladed article in a public place, and criminal damage.

Incident Details

The attack occurred on 25 August 2024 when Hutchinson arrived at his ex-partner’s home in Taylor Crescent, Ludgershall, following a disagreement.

According to police, Hutchinson threw a paving slab through the front door, causing damage to the property, before assaulting his ex-partner’s boyfriend, a man in his 40s. He then entered the house and armed himself with multiple knives, which he used to attack the victim.

The victim sustained injuries to his arm and hand, which required emergency hospital treatment.

Hutchinson fled the scene, prompting a police wanted appeal. He was arrested days later and remanded into custody.

Court Sentence

At his sentencing, Hutchinson was handed a four-year-and-ten-month prison sentence, with an additional four-year extended licence period.

Police Statement

Detective Sergeant Toni Nugent of South CID commented:

“Hutchinson went to his ex-partner’s property with the intention of causing serious harm to her partner. Following an initial altercation outside the house, he then went inside to find weapons to use against him.

“Hutchinson’s actions were completely unacceptable, and it is fortunate that the victim’s injuries were not significantly worse.

“We take all knife crime incredibly seriously and will ensure that anybody who perpetrates a crime involving a weapon is arrested and put before the courts.”

Knife Crime Awareness

Wiltshire Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling knife crime and encouraged residents to report any concerns related to weapons.

Hutchinson’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those who commit violent crimes involving weapons.
