A 30-year-old man, Anthony Gilheaney, has been charged with multiple offenses, including four counts of attempted murder, following a violent attack on Shaftesbury Avenue in Central London during the early hours of Christmas Day.

Gilheaney faces additional charges of causing serious injury by driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving, and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was remanded into police custody and is set to appear at %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Magistrates Court today (December 27, 2024).

Incident and Arrest

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy confirmed that the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% was apprehended just minutes after the attack. "Since then, investigators have worked tirelessly to build the case and have today charged Anthony Gilheaney with four counts of attempted %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%,” he said.

Victims' Condition

One of the victims remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment in hospital. The condition of the other three victims has not been disclosed, but they are believed to be recovering.
