The UK has recognised over 1,200 individuals in HM The King’s New Year Honours List 2025, celebrating the exceptional contributions of unsung heroes across sectors including healthcare, education, sports, arts, and community service.

Highlights from the Honours List
Sports and Leadership
- Sir Gareth Southgate, former England football manager, receives a knighthood for his contributions to football and youth charities like the Prince’s Trust.
- Helen Glover, two-time Olympic rowing champion, receives an OBE for her illustrious career, including a gold medal at the 2024 European Championships.
- Keely Hodgkinson, Olympic gold medalist in athletics, and Eleanor Aldridge, the first Olympic kiteboarding champion, both receive MBEs.
Arts and Literature
- Dame Jacqueline Wilson, beloved author, is awarded a Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire for services to literature.
- Stephen Fry, renowned actor and mental health advocate, is knighted for his work in raising awareness and transforming public attitudes towards mental health.

- Mikayla Beames, 18, receives a BEM for founding Team Mikayla, supporting children with cancer and raising over £300,000.
- William Ellard, Paralympic gold medalist, is awarded an MBE for his sporting achievements in Paris 2024.
- Rebecca Clarke, 20, earns a BEM for championing disability rights and shaping policy on access for young people.

- Colin Bell, 103, WWII Mosquito pilot, receives a BEM for his work with Bomber Command.
- Michael Bennion, Scout Leader for 54 years, is awarded an MBE for services to youth development.
- Wendy Ansell, specialist midwife, receives an MBE for her work supporting survivors of FGM and women seeking asylum.
