A man is in critical condition following a stabbing in Old Street, with four people arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Old Street, EC1, at around 2:20am on Saturday, 15 March, after reports of an assault.


Officers arrived at the scene alongside London Ambulance Service, where they found a man in his 20s suffering from a stab wound to the groin.

He was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Swift Arrests Near Shoreditch Park

Within 50 minutes of the attack, police arrested three men and one woman in the vicinity of Shoreditch Park, just a short distance from the scene. All four suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, where they remain at this time.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.16am today (15 March) to reports of a person injured in Old Street, Hackney.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.

“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first paramedic arrived in less than four minutes.

“We treated one person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“This was a swift and decisive response by officers who quickly located and arrested four suspects. The investigation is in its early stages, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.”

Appeal for Witnesses

Detectives are urging any members of the public who were in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed the assault or events leading up to it, to come forward.
