A large field fire in Calshot has prompted a significant emergency response, with crews from five fire stations currently at the scene.

The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service reported that the fire broke out just before 7pm on April 4, 2025. The blaze is affecting an area of gorse and standing crop measuring approximately 400m x 80m.

Emergency Response

Firefighters from Hardley, Hythe, Beaulieu, Eastleigh, and Ringwood are actively tackling the flames using a main jet and two hose reels. The fire service control room received multiple calls reporting the incident, indicating the scale and visibility of the fire.

Public Safety Warning

Local residents are being advised to keep doors and windows closed due to the significant amount of smoke being produced. Authorities are also warning people to avoid the area to allow emergency services to work efficiently.

A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said:

Our crews are working hard to contain and extinguish the fire. We urge anyone in the vicinity to take precautions against the smoke by keeping doors and windows closed.”
