A man has been charged following a serious sexual assault on Brighton Beach near the iconic pier in the early hours of Thursday, 1 May.
Sam Soyoye, 31, of Windsor Street, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%, appeared in court on Saturday, 3 May, charged with rape. He has been %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% pending further proceedings.
Victim Receiving Specialist %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%
The female victim is currently receiving support from specially trained officers, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% confirmed.
The alleged assault took place shortly after midnight on the busy beach, a %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% spot for both locals and tourists.

Soyoye also faces three further charges of %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%% case reported in September 2024, involving another female victim.
Detective Inspector Kirstie Neal of the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit said:
