A 25-year-old man has been charged after a violent stabbing in Radford, Nottingham, left a young man hospitalised and sparked major police action over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Emergency services rushed to %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Street just after 8.30pm on Saturday, 3 May, following reports of a fight. A man in his 20s was found with a serious stab wound and a stolen mobile phone, according to Nottinghamshire %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%%.

Fortunately, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% to be non-life-threatening, and he continues to recover after receiving hospital treatment.

Suspect Mohamed Gawi in Court

Mohamed Gawi, of Egypt Road, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%%, has now been charged with:

  • %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% (GBH) with intent
  • Possession of an %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%%
  • %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%%

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% on 5 May and has been remanded in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for 2 June 2025 at %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_8%%.

The quick arrest followed an intense %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_9%% aided by the city’s extensive CCTV network, with police sealing off Norton Street to conduct a full forensic sweep.

Thanks to the thorough use of CCTV and strong local %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_11%%, we were able to make an arrest quickly, bringing reassurance to the community.
