A fourth Iranian man has been arrested in London as part of an ongoing counter-terrorism investigation, following the earlier arrest of three other Iranian nationals during coordinated police raids.

The 31-year-old suspect was taken into custody at a residential address in north-west London on the morning of Friday, 9 May 2025, according to the Metropolitan Police.

His arrest comes days after three other Iranian men, aged 39, 44, and 55, were detained in the capital on Saturday, 3 May, as part of the same investigation, led by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.

All four are %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% being held under Section 27 of the National Security Act 2023, which permits detention in relation to threats to UK national security. %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% that warrants of further detention have been granted for the first three suspects, allowing them to be held until Saturday, 17 May.

Separate Plot Linked to Israeli Embassy

In a separate but unconnected operation, five other Iranian nationals were arrested in Greater %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%, London, and Swindon during raids last Saturday, over what police described as a "suspected plot to target a specific premises".

The target was the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%%.

Police have emphasised that the two operations are not connected, although all nine %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%%.

A %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% spokesperson said:

"Our operations reflect our determination to prevent, detect and disrupt any threats to the UK's %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%% security."
