Emergency services rushed to a major fire in %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% in the early hours of Monday after a bus erupted in flames at a petrol station.
Fire Erupts on %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% Road
england/south-east/east-sussex/”>%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%/south-east/east-sussex/”>East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) were alerted at 2:09am on 29 September 2025 about a large vehicle fire on %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% Road, heading east between Lewes and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%%.
The fire started on a bus but quickly spread to the petrol station %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%%shop, sparking a major incident.
Massive Firefight with Six Breathing Apparatus Deployed
- Four fire engines from preston/”>preston/”>Preston Circus, Hove and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%% scrambled to the scene.
- Firefighters initially fought the blaze using two sets of breathing apparatus and two foam jets.
- By 3:30am, the response escalated to six sets of breathing apparatus, two foam jets, and one main jet.
Sussex Police are on hand managing traffic chaos while crews battle-wales/”>battle the flames.
Warning to Drivers and Locals
Authorities have urged drivers to avoid %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% Road altogether. Residents nearby have been advised to keep windows and doors firmly shut due to thick smoke.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries so far.
