On 4th December 2024, police rushed to a serious crash on Privett Road, Gosport. The driver, 87-year-old James Masson, suffered life-threatening injuries after having a heart attack behind the wheel.
Rapid Police Response Saves Local Man
Officers arrived swiftly and began CPR immediately. An armed response unit soon joined with a defibrillator. Together, all five officers worked tirelessly until paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service took over.
Community and Police Celebrate Remarkable Recovery
Thanks to the incredible teamwork, James has made a full recovery nearly a year on. Three of the heroic officers—PC Williams, PC Cole, and PC Bark—recently met James and his family to celebrate over coffee and cake.
"It was an absolute honour to meet James and hear about his incredible life," said a spokesperson. "We are grateful to have witnessed his inspiring journey back to health." Officers involved were PC 28411 WILLIAMS, PC 29988 COLE, PC 29126 BARK, PC 27956 JONES, PS 20587 WRENN.
