Two men charged after terrifying abduction attempt
A 15-year-old girl was forced into a car in a shocking daylight kidnapping attempt on a busy street in central Birmingham.
Mohammed Ali, 49, and his son Luqman Ali, 20, tried to bundle the terrified teen into their vehicle on Ladypool Road. The brazen snatch unfolded in front of stunned bystanders.
Brave members of the public stop getaway
The men were stopped from driving off by quick-thinking members of the public, allowing the girl to break free. She fled into a nearby shop and raised the alarm.
Both suspects were swiftly arrested at the scene. Specialist officers are now supporting the girl as she recovers from the traumatic ordeal.
Charged and remanded – court date today
- Mohammed Ali faces charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and assault.
- Luqman Ali is charged with kidnapping.
- Both remain in custody and are set to appear at city magistrates today.
West Midlands Police appealed for anyone with information to come forward urgently.
“We are aware of misinformation circulating about the incident. We confirm the suspects and victim are of British Asian heritage,” said the police.
