Mohammed Sarfaraz, 45, from Newcastle, went berserk in January when police came knocking. Five officers confronted him over a criminal allegation, but Sarfaraz responded with shocking violence. He hurled a pan of hot cooking oil right into their faces, Northumbria Police revealed.
The scalding oil hit two officers, seriously injuring one. The victim suffered second and third-degree burns to his face and chest, leaving permanent scars.
Barricaded Himself, Then Got Tasered
Sarfaraz then locked himself inside a garage in a desperate attempt to escape. Police were forced to taser him before dragging him out and making the arrest.
Nine Years Behind Bars for Brutal Attack
The very next day, Sarfaraz was charged with affray and multiple counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. After a trial, he was convicted and on Tuesday handed a tough nine-year prison sentence at Newcastle Crown Court.
The force confirmed the severity of the attack, highlighting the lasting impact on the injured officers.
