Three Sexual Assault Allegations Rock Southampton

Sohail Amiri, 30, from Highfield Lane, Southampton, stands accused of sexually assaulting three women across the city. The latest charge involves an incident in Upper Shaftesbury Avenue, where he allegedly tried to kiss a woman without consent in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police say this follows two other attacks reported on 23 September in Westwood Road. The victims were approached by Amiri in separate incidents, though details of the September attacks remain under wraps.

Woman Fights Off Attacker

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson revealed: “A woman walking along Upper Shaftesbury Avenue just after midnight was confronted by Amiri, who attempted to kiss her. Thankfully, she forced him off and escaped.”

Authorities have linked all three cases to Amiri, who now faces multiple sexual assault charges.

Illegal Entry Charge Added to List

Amiri hasn’t just landed in hot water over alleged assaults. He’s also charged with illegally entering the UK, breaching Section 24 of the Immigration Act 1971. This means he could face prosecution on multiple fronts.

Local Hotel Protests Stir Tensions

Amiri’s home address is listed as Highfield Lane, the same street as Highfield House Hotel in Portswood. The hotel has been the centre of anti-immigration protests over housing asylum seekers and migrants. However, there’s no confirmed link between Amiri and the hotel.

Next Steps: Court Appearance Pending

Amiri is due to appear soon at Southampton Magistrates’ Court to answer all charges. No date has been confirmed yet. Magistrates will decide how the case progresses.
