Four Arrested Over Andover Murder Released Without Charge
Four people arrested on suspicion of murder after a 28-year-old man was found stabbed to death in an alleyway in Andover have been released with no further action.
The victim, from London, was discovered with serious stab wounds in an alley off Smannell Road in the early hours of Friday, February 9. He was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigation and Arrests
Hampshire Police initially arrested two men, aged 37 and 46, and two women, aged 32 and 47, on suspicion of murder. However, detectives have now confirmed that no further action will be taken against them.
A post-mortem examination confirmed the victim died from stab wounds.
Possible Drug Link
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Chivers said that one line of inquiry is that the murder was drug-related.
“We have already spoken to a number of people and have started to piece together a picture of what took place during the early hours of Friday morning,” he said.
Police activity in the area will be ongoing throughout the weekend while our investigation continues.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers have been conducting house-to-house inquiries and forensic investigations at the crime scene.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area late Thursday night or early Friday morning to come forward.
