A 39-year-old asylum seeker has been locked up after groping a 17-year-old girl on the London Underground. Muslih Alotaibi was caught fondling the teenager on the Central Line last September, a court heard.
Caught Red-Handed on the Central Line
The victim was travelling between Oxford Circus and Mile End on September 2, 2023, when Alotaibi tried to put his hand under her leg. The brave teenager alerted another passenger, and police swiftly detained Alotaibi shortly afterwards.
Jailed and Facing Deportation Back to Saudi Arabia
Alotaibi, who arrived in the UK earlier that year seeking asylum from Saudi Arabia, appeared at Inner London Crown Court dressed in grey prison clothes. An Arabic interpreter assisted him during sentencing.
He was sentenced to 19 weeks behind bars, excluding time already served. The court also slapped him with a five-year sexual harm prevention order. He must use only a credit or Oyster card registered in his name when travelling on public transport to ensure he can be tracked.
The judge told him, “I see that you are illegally in the UK. The Home Office should be aware of this conviction and take steps to carry out their duties to remove you.”
