A coach driver has been arrested after a school bus carrying 29 children careered off the A36 near %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% roundabout and crashed into a ditch.

Chaos on the A36: Coach Ploughs into Ditch

The bus, carrying 29 pupils and four teachers on a school trip, left the southbound carriageway on Thursday morning, coming to rest in a england/scotland-england/”>scotland/”>scotland/roadside/”>roadside ditch. Despite the horror, all 29 children escaped unharmed.

One teacher suffered a minor leg injury and was treated at the scene.

Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Drink or Drug Driving

The 48-year-old driver from %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% escaped with minor injuries and was taken to %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% General Hospital as a precaution. Authorities later arrested him on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drink or drugs. He remains in custody.

A %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% Constabulary spokesperson said: "We are currently dealing with a single vehicle collision on the A36 between the Ower roundabout and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%%junction 2 of the M27. The school is aware of the incident and all parents have been contacted."

Emergency Services Swarm Scene

Fire crews from %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%%, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%%, St Mary's, and Totton rushed to the scene alongside other emergency responders. The southbound carriageway has been closed for several hours as police recover the coach and investigate the incident.

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the area and thanked the public for their patience.
