Nathan Gill, the disgraced former Brexit Party MEP from Anglesey, has admitted taking Kremlin cash to push Russian propaganda. The 52-year-old pleaded guilty to bribery linked to Ukrainian Kremlin-backed politician Oleg Voloshyn, admitting he took payments to promote pro-Russian narratives in the European Parliament.

Gill Pleads Guilty to Eight Bribery Charges at Old Bailey

In a dramatic hearing at the Old Bailey, Gill confessed to eight bribery counts. Between December 2018 and July 2019, while serving as an MEP for Wales, he accepted cash to advance Russian-backed views on the Ukraine conflict. Each charge carries a jail term of up to 10 years under the Bribery Act 2010.

He denied one conspiracy charge tied to dealings with Voloshyn from 2018 to 2020. Prosecutors allege Gill took hefty sums to twist his parliamentary role for Russia’s benefit.

Kremlin Puppet Master Exposed: Oleg Voloshyn

Voloshyn, 43, is a controversial Ukraine-based ex-journalist and politician with deep Kremlin ties. He was spokesman for Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry under the pro-Russian President Yanukovych and linked to oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk’s opposition party.

Voloshyn worked for the banned pro-Russian TV channel 112 Ukraine and faced UK sanctions in 2022 for spreading Russian propaganda. The US also slapped sanctions on him, accusing him of helping Russian intelligence undermine Ukraine’s democracy.

Gill’s Shady Political Journey

  • Started with UKIP, rose under Nigel Farage’s leadership
  • Switched to the Brexit Party exactly when alleged bribery began – December 6, 2018
  • Lost 2019 general election bid for the Brexit Party
  • Became Reform UK Wales leader in 2021 but quit after a poor election showing

The scandal deepened as reports surfaced of Gill meeting other pro-Russian figures in Ukraine and Moldova, meetings allegedly arranged by Kremlin agents. His defence has crumbled with today’s confession.

Justice on the Horizon as Gill Awaits Sentencing

Gill was stopped at Manchester Airport in September 2021, where police seized his phone, uncovering evidence of cash-for-propaganda deals. He remains on bail with strict conditions preventing travel abroad or contact with Voloshyn.

Voloshyn is charged but remains beyond UK jurisdiction. In Ukraine, he faces treason charges for aiding Russia’s war effort.

This explosive case exposes how foreign money can poison UK politics. While representing Welsh voters in Brussels, Gill secretly served Kremlin interests.
