Firefighters were scrambled to a major house fire in Ashton-under-Lyne on Saturday evening.

Emergency services were called at around 8.15pm on 3 May to reports of a large %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% at a semi-detached home on Sheard Avenue.

Multiple fire crews from %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% attended the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control.

%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% seeing thick smoke rising from the property, with emergency vehicles lining the surrounding streets.

There are currently no %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% reports of injuries, and fire crews are expected to remain on site into the night to damp down the area and investigate the cause of the fire.

Authorities have urged %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% nearby to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
