A driver who filmed himself performing dangerous stunts and speeding around the Isle of Sheppey has been jailed for 15 months, after police uncovered incriminating footage during a fatal crash investigation.

George Ivers, 22, formerly of Minster-on-Sea, was sentenced at %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Crown Court on 16 June 2025 after admitting multiple dangerous driving offences and perverting the course of justice.

Footage Uncovered During Cyclist Death Investigation

The case came to light after a 19-year-old cyclist was killed in a crash on Lower Road, Teynham, in the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% of 2 May 2022. The cyclist, a local man, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% after sustaining catastrophic injuries.

While Ivers was not charged directly in relation to the fatal collision, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% linked him to the crash through forensic work and vehicle identification.

%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% VW Polo used in the collision, after removing documents linking him to the car.

‘Doughnuts’ and Speeding in Sheerness

A search of Ivers' phone uncovered videos filmed in late 2021 and early 2022, showing him driving at high speeds and performing "doughnut" manoeuvres near the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% and through the centre of Sheerness.

The footage, described by officers as reckless and dangerous, led to additional charges unrelated to the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%%.

Sentencing and Driving Ban

Ivers %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% to:

  • Two counts of %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_8%% (relating to the footage)
  • %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_9%% (following the collision)

He was sentenced to one year and three months in prison and given a three-year %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_10%%. A deprivation order was also granted, allowing %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_11%% the vehicle involved.

Police Warning to Reckless Drivers

Sergeant Christopher Oliver-Jones, from Kent Police, said:
"Ivers made multiple efforts to mislead and prevent the police from obtaining the evidence they required to fully investigate the fatal %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_16%%.
The footage on his phone showed he had a blatant disregard for %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_17%% safety."

"We will continue to seek %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_18%% orders where vehicles have been driven recklessly. I urge all motorists to take %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_19%% further tragedies."
