Hayadulla Turkmani, 53, from Langdale Gardens, Essex, has denied murdering 28-year-old Michael Ashton. Mr Ashton suffered life-threatening injuries after being reportedly hit by a car on Rosecroft Close, Langdon Hills, on Friday, September 26.
He tragically died on October 4. Two weeks later, Essex Police charged Turkmani with his murder.
Court appearance and next steps
Turkmani appeared at Southend Crown Court on Monday, November 17, dressed in a grey hooded sweatshirt. Using an Afghan Dari interpreter, he confirmed his identity and entered a not guilty plea.
His trial is set for April next year. Judge Samantha Leigh ordered Turkmani to remain in custody until then.
