Former Rocker Killed in Wakefield Prison

Ian Watkins, notorious Lostprophets frontman, has been murdered inside Wakefield Prison where he was serving 29 years for horrific child sex offences.

The 48-year-old was found with his throat slit by a fellow inmate after prison cells were unlocked this morning.

Emergency services and police rushed to the scene, but Watkins died from severe blood loss at the prison in West Yorkshire.

Brutal Attack Shocks Prison

Described as one of the most brutal jail murders in recent UK history, sources say Watkins was targeted and viciously attacked with a knife.

An insider told The Sun: “Watkins was killed in the most brutal way possible – the attack shocked even by prison standards. Guards were nearby but couldn’t save him.”

The attacker was quickly apprehended and identified, according to justice sources.

High-Profile Paedophile’s Dark Past

  • Watkins was jailed in 2013 for 35 years after pleading guilty to 13 child sex crimes, including attempted rape of an infant.
  • Known as a tech-savvy predator, his collection of abusive material was reportedly 27 terabytes — five times bigger than South Wales Police’s data storage.
  • This is not Watkins’ first brush with jail violence; he survived a stabbing in August 2023 at Wakefield after a dispute over visits and guitar lessons.

Shock and Aftermath

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the fatal assault and revealed homicide detectives are investigating.

“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene,” said a police spokesperson. “Enquiries remain ongoing.”

Prisoners and staff expressed shock at the violent death of one of Britain’s most infamous convicted sex offenders.

Victim and Betrayer – The Dark Story Behind Watkins

Watkins’ downfall was sealed thanks to Joanne Mjadzelics, who exposed his evil crimes after years of a toxic relationship.

Joanne told the Daily Mail about the nightmare that began when she, a fan, first connected with Watkins in 2006.

She described how the singer’s twisted fantasies grew darker over time—from grooming young girls to showing graphic illegal images.

Despite contacting police, her warnings were dismissed until Watkins’ arrest in 2013.

Ian Watkins’ grim legacy ends behind bars

Watkins’ death marks one of the most high-profile inmate killings in UK prison history, ending the life of a man despised both inside and outside prison walls.

The Ministry of Justice has been approached for comment.
