An explosion at the ‘Mis Tesoros’ bar in Madrid has resulted in the death of one person and injuries to at least 25 others. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m. local time in the Puente de Vallecas district.

Rescue Efforts and Victim Status

Rescue workers discovered the body of a man early Sunday morning after conducting searches through the debris. Madrid’s Emergency Services reported that two victims are in a “serious” condition, while three others are considered “potentially serious.” Four individuals were rescued alive from the rubble, according to Firefighter Chief Javier Romero.

Cause of the Explosion

Local media attributed the explosion to a gas leak. Carlos Marin, head of the Madrid %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Council Fire Department, confirmed it was a gas explosion but stated that the specific type of gas and the exact cause remain undetermined. Inmaculada Sanz, deputy mayor of Madrid, noted that it is still “too early to predict what the cause of the explosion could have been.”

Building Safety and Resident Displacement

Marin advised that residents of the nine %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% units in the building will need to be rehoused for at least a few days due to instability. While some upper apartments remain undamaged, access to the building is currently impossible as the affected area is the entrance.
