Hove Crown Court has heard the case of David Hallatt's tragic death, leading to a manslaughter plea from Kieran Egan, 30, of Birmingham.
The incident occurred on June 20, 2024, outside The Dolphin and Anchor pub in %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%. David, 57, was enjoying an evening with colleagues when an altercation broke out after a man known to David was ejected for violent behavior. During the chaos, Egan delivered a fatal punch to David, an innocent bystander trying to defuse the situation. Despite %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% and paramedics' efforts, David was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trial Concludes with Mixed Verdicts
Egan faced trial alongside Dyce Barnfield, 31, who was also charged with %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% and affray for allegedly encouraging Egan's actions. On January 7, the jury found both men not guilty of murder, with Barnfield acquitted of all charges. Egan, however, admitted to manslaughter and awaits sentencing on April 4.
