Man and Woman Arrested After One-Year-Old Baby Airlifted to Hospital in 'Serious Condition' on Isle of Wight
Overview
A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent after a one-year-old baby was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
Emergency services were called to a property in %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% at around 11:30am on Saturday, 2 August, after residents reported seeing paramedics carrying a "limp" child out of the home and into an ambulance.
The baby was airlifted to %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% for urgent treatment. The child's current condition remains unknown.
Arrests and Police Investigation
Following initial enquiries, Hampshire Police confirmed that a man and woman, both from Newport, were arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent. They have since been released on conditional bail pending further investigation until 1 November 2025.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said:
"We were called at 11.34am on Friday, August 1, to a report of a child being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
They have been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue."
