A man has been charged with multiple offences following a dramatic incident at a disused Army barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire.
%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Constabulary confirmed that officers were called at around 4.30pm on Saturday after receiving reports that a man had driven through the barriers at St Omer Barracks. The man reportedly exited the vehicle, shouted at guards, and used a knife to damage the outside of the car.
Due to concerning comments made at the scene, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called as a precaution. However, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% later confirmed there was no explosive threat and no injuries were reported.
On Sunday, Jason Pellatt, 54, of no fixed abode, was charged with possession of a knife in a public place, dangerous driving, assault of an emergency worker, and affray.
Police have launched an %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% to determine the full circumstances of the incident, but confirmed it is not being treated as terrorism-related.
Pellatt is due to appear in custody at Basingstoke Magistrates' %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% on Monday.
